ID18 video: Gavin Lang outlines his chances

Three-time TAB Inter Dominion Trotting Championship winner Gavin Lang has outlined his ID18 chances ahead of Saturday night’s first round of heats.

From his Darley stables, Lang said his trotter, Save Our Pennys, had “a couple of minor setbacks” this campaign before an encouraging second when first-up last Saturday night in the Yabby Dam Racing McNamara Memorial Trotters Cup.

“He’ll improve, which he’ll need too because he’s stepping up to another level come round one Saturday night,” Lang said. “If he improves a bit from one run to the next hopefully he can make the final.”

Lang also spoke about his pacing hopes Im Pats Delight and Mister Wickham, who he’ll steer for trainers Cran Dalgety and Lee Evison respectively, and who he hopes might provide his first Inter Dominion pacing crown.

“People speak about it and I’ve thought about it and, yeah, sure, it would be great to achieve it,” Lang said. “As a kid, an Inter Dominion was basically the goal going forward if you were a driver. Haven’t been able to achieve it yet, there’s been probably greater drivers than me that haven’t been able to achieve it – if it happens it happens.”
