Injury brings an end to Hopeful Beauty’s racing career

Two-time Group 1 runner-up Hopeful Beauty has been retired from racing as focus moves towards life in the breeding barn.

Yabby Dam Farms principal Pat Driscoll confirmed a recent foot injury had been behind the decision to call time on the six-year-old mare’s racing days.

“She hurt her foot probably about three weeks ago,” Driscoll said.

“She has always had little feet issues, so she’s retired and will probably go to Walner.”

Hopeful Beauty never cracked it for victory at the elite level, but was runner-up in the Cranbourne Trotters Cup to Majestuoso late last year and second again in the Maori Mile behind Aldebaran Zeus a few weeks later.

Her career highlight was victory in the Group 2 Yarra Valley Trotters Cup during November 2020, with the daughter of Brillantissime finishing with 12 wins and $153,155 in prizemoney from 40 starts.
