Buster Brady’s “gone into monster mode” declares Kima Frenning on the cusp of the Jet Roofing Kilmore Pacing Cup, which could well shape the coming months of Grand Circuit racing.
The trainer-driver’s reigning Trots Country Cups Champion had his Australian coming out party last season when he saluted in the Geelong, Cobram, Echuca, Maryborough and Horsham cups, and Frenning is eyeing more silverware this season.
The reinswoman said that could include a trip across the Tasman, with New Zealand “on the radar” for its trotting cup and the Inter Dominion.
“We are going to go to Kilmore Cup and then Victoria Cup and then we will see from there,” Frenning told Inside Word. “The New Zealand Cup has been mentioned more than once. We will see how he goes in these two races and how he pulls up from that.”
The journey begins from gate 11 in tomorrow night’s Kilmore headliner, when Buster Brady, a $7 chance to take the title with tab.com.au, is ready to strike after a last-start win in the VHRC Classic.
“He feels like he’s just gone into monster mode,” Frenning said. “First up, obviously I’m just going to put a cross through that, it was just a bit too hard for him. Since that he’s been super.
“(The Kilmore Cup’s) a race with a lot of depth in it, there are some really nice horses, but if we can get a trail up into it and they’ve gone a little bit hard early I have no doubt he will be in it.”
Notably, Frenning told Inside Word she would be “happy to put him into the race if circumstances allow, because he’s proved he can do that”.
