Tonight’s Tabcorp Park Melton meeting and the remainder of the Kilmore trots program this afternoon have been called off following heavy rain.
At Melton, stewards inspected the track and consulted with track staff at about 3.30pm before making the decision to cancel tonight’s races.
A section of track near the 400-metre mark was the most severely impacted (pictured right) following a deluge that dumped about 20mm of rain on the venue in 20 minutes.
The storm arrived at Kilmore about 3pm and heavy rain has fallen since.
Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) is exploring options with regard to potentially re-scheduling races and will advise as early as possible.
