There doesn’t appear to be any juice in the market here with ITS EBONYNIVORY (4) and LONG WEEKEND (7) the obvious pair. It’s not the worst race to get involved with through trifectas but it does get a but murky at the back end so we’ll hold fire.

ANDOVER SUN (6) is a bright prospect and the market has seen it very similarly. I thought SKY EAGLE (4) was the best of the rest for trifectas so we get the opportunity to hook in and try to jag a small but hopefully fruitful divvy.

Confidence:
While I have plenty of respect for the favourite ELLENKATE (5) here, I get the feeling ROCK THE NATION (10) has all sorts of scope for improvement so even from the barrier draw, he’s worth taking the punt on at the price today.
SUGGESTED BET: $30 Win on Rock The Nation (10) at $3 or better.
Race 4
Confidence:
RADICAL MAJOR (6) has come up favourite here but I’m surprised to see SON OF MAJOR (4) so short in the market. I thought LENARD ESS (5) was the key threat and while it’s not a race we’ll get heavily involved in, that’s the way we’ll be playing the intersecting Quaddie leg.

Confidence:
SCRUFFY DOOLAN (6) has come up a bit short than I was expecting but it’s hard to have any major qualms with the market on exposed form. With that lack of variation to how I saw the race, it’s hard to find something super exciting to punt here.

I do understand why MANTHADEE (2) has come up favourite here given she’s the likely early leader but I’m confident MESSERATI (8) has the class in this race if he gets an ounce of luck so the $8 or thereabouts is solid overs. UNTITLED (10) appears the danger to my eye after a string of good runs.
SUGGESTED BET: $20 Each Way on Messerati (10) at $5 or better.
Race 7
Confidence:
A lot is going to depend on KASBAH KID (1) finding some gate speed here but if he does hold them wide and JOE NIEN (9) drops in three poles, we’ve got ourselves some sort of betting race. It’s even worth taking the punt on just in the hope that it plays out that way.

Early Quaddie
There are many ways to slice the pie through the Early Quaddie but it could get complicated so rather than over commit, we’ll just play one combination and hope we get a split here or there.

This is very similar to the Early Quaddie in terms of the options are endless. Normally we’d stagger up our main Quaddie but with the slight confusion the last four races bring, we’ll try a similar trick in terms of playing one Quaddie and hoping for a touch of value.
