Wayne Hill has made a life out of travelling the nine-hour round trip to Mildura on a weekly basis for a strong book of drives in the Sunraysia.

The star South Australian reinsman is a regular border-hopper into Victoria and sits seventh on the list of most successful drivers at the track during the last 12 months.

He has 23 wins and 61 placings at Mildura across the last year, and will be out to build on his record with seven engagements this evening.

Of those, he identified runners for Anthony Schembri and Scott Garraway that he felt stood out above the rest.

"Keayang Balboa, especially if I could cross Ozzie Daybreak early. And Coco Beach with any sort of luck over the last 400m or 500m, she'll definitely be right there," he said.

Read below some of Hill's comments for all seven of his drives at tonight's Mildura meeting, which will kick off at 5.24pm.

THE EUSTON CLUB PACE

WHEREYAGOINBABE (Reece Moore)

"Cuzin Lyndal is probably the hardest to beat, but she’s drawn 10 so if we are able to lead up and keep up a bit of a gap between ourselves and Alex Ashwood's horse, that will probably be vital in running in the first two or three."

THE GATEWAY PACE

OLLIE AND BROCK (Shane Osborn)

"Over 2190m, this sort of class of race they generally won't run under a minute their last half, and that's sort of what he needs. He wouldn't want to be doing a lot of work early - just finding a nice cushy run - and he might be able to run in the first five."

MALLEE BEARINGS 3YO PACE

KEAYANG BALBOA (Anthony Schembri)

"We might be able to get a jump on the better ones in that race as well and keep a bit of a gap between them. I'd have been a little bit more confident if I had drawn on the inside of Ozzie Daybreak, but I sort of get the feeling I potentially might be able to head him off early. Jack (Laugher) likes to drive pretty aggressive, so he'll be booting up and trying to do his best to hold me out I think as well."

TENDERPRINT AUSTRALIA PACE

ALFS ODYSSEY (Frank Mercieca)

"This race is an extremely even field...

"I'll have to have a chat to Frank and see if he is keen to stay on the peg line, on the back of Outa Control. I think Glam Rock definitely looks like the leader and you go back through his replay last start, Ellen was sort of choking him over the line and he just never saw daylight whatsoever. He's racing well.

"It's a bit of a raffle that (race) there."

TASCO PETROLEUM PACE

COCO BEACH (Scott Garraway)

"I think that King Solomon is probably more than likely the leader, which does help. So we will just boot up on his back at the start, and I think King Solomon is definitely racing good enough to get me where I want to go.

"It's a pretty even race again, but I think my mare is definitely going good enough to win. With no sprint lane at Mildura, she will definitely need some luck over the last 400m or 500m."

TANKARD DENTAL PACE

HAVE A CRACK (Andrew Vozlic)

"His last two starts have been quite good...

"Another situation where I probably would have preferred to have drawn inside Last Artist. He's got quite good gate speed. I would be extremely confident of leading if I hadn't drawn on the outside of him, but like his namesake says, he'll have a crack out of the gate to see if we can cross Last Artist. That will probably be crucial in where we are going to finish, I'd think."

SUNRAYSIA SECURITY PROTECTIVE SERVICES PACE

MACH HU (Shane Osborn)

"He is probably going better than his numerical form suggests, to be quite honest.

"He's a little bit one-paced, a big type of horse and needs the speed on a little bit.

"I think he will pick up a race in the next four to five weeks, we've just got to wait for that right race to pop up I think.

"Footlock is probably the likely leader in this race and I think will be quite hard to beat if he does find the front.

"You'd probably think (Footlock) and (Chloe Ann) would run top two, in my opinion, so we will maybe be looking to stay on the back of Chloe Ann at the start, see if we can run third or fourth and pick up a cheque."

The good oil from the Vic trials circuit

Mildura, R2 N5, Apache Wind
Settled four back on the inside and remained on the markers throughout, moving through to trail the leader on the home turn. He held his ground in the straight and finished in third. He returns from his stint in Queensland at Mildura this evening and most of his lifetime victories have been on the Mildura circuit so he could improve on his numerical form. REPORT
Mildura, R3 N9, Pumpt
Angled across to be three back on the markers and moved through to trail the leader with 900m remaining. He finished a distant third as a final hit-out for his debut performance at Mildura this evening. REPORT
