SELECTIONS: TOO THE MAX (6), CALEDONIAN RANGER (10), MUSELET (5), YANKEE GAMBLER (4)

OVERVIEW: TOO THE MAX (6) hasn’t finished further back than fourth at his past nine starts and has the early speed to be prominent throughout. He finished off well for third in a handy mile rate of 1.56.3 at Ballarat last outing. CALEDONIAN RANGER (10) broke stride early and came from tailed off when a big sixth at his latest appearance. He is poorly drawn but is a winning chance if he gets away safely. MUSELET (5) led out then took cover when he dashed through to win over Byrneside Boom at Maryborough last outing. He is likely to try and adopt a similar tactic now so he looms as a winning chance again. YANKEE GAMBLER (4) raced without cover throughout, hit the lead in the home straight and was beaten on the line when a brave second at Ballarat last week. He is a strong type and is racing in peak form so he deserves to break through for a win. DE BEAU ROCK (7) has several fast beginners drawn on his inside and he performs best when he is able to lead but he is racing well enough to figure in the finish. TUKURUA (8) has performed well in all of his three starts since coming from New South Wales and should be finding the line nicely.

SELECTIONS: IAMAWINGATE (6), HUXHAM CHUBB (1), SHE WILL WANTANO (3), PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (4)

OVERVIEW: IAMAWINGATE (6) is a brilliant beginner and is likely to dash across the field and find the lead in the early stages. He led throughout to win at Terang two starts ago then set up a genuine tempo and peaked late against a stronger line up at Ballarat. He should prove hard to beat against this opposition. HUXHAM CHUBB (1) enjoyed the perfect trip and appeared to have her chance at Stawell on Monday but the time was fast. Her overall form is consistent and this appears to be a suitable assignment. SHE WILL WANTANO (3) is an honest mare, which has won eighteen races and was able to score at Mount Gambier on December 30. She battled on fairly well for second in handy time at Mount Gambier at her latest attempt. PRESIDENTIALCHANGE (4) found the line well behind IAMAWINGATE (6) at his latest attempt and is worth a ticket each way.

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG SIMBA (6), COLOSIMO (1), FIRESIDE (4), KEAYANG HUNGRY (5) ᅠ

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG SIMBA (6) is out of the former classy mare Keayang Mercedes, which won ten of her nineteen starts, and finished a close third at a Terang trial performance behind Keayang Alabama last week, where the final quarter was run in 28.1 seconds. He obviously has ability and is worth an investment. COLOSIMO (1) also finished a close up third at a Terang trial effort last week and is ideally drawn against a suitable line up so he cannot be left out of calculations. FIRESIDE (4) has been placed in three of his five starts to date and continues to improve with the benefit of racing. He set up a genuine tempo and was run down late when second behind My Ultimate Luigi at Ballarat last week. KEAYANG HUNGRY (5) settled midfield, came out three horses wide from the 500m and battled on well for fourth behind Bigbashash at Stawell. He has performed well at his three starts to date and is not without a chance. DECODE (2) finished fourth at a Terang trial effort last week and must be kept safe.

SELECTIONS: JILLIBY ECLIPSE (3), HAVADASH JOH (7), JACOSAS DREAM (5), ROMAN CHARLIE (1)

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG WASABI (6) was resuming since January 2025 when a creditable fourth behind Crusader Miss at Ballarat. He should strip fitter from that run and he competed against very strong opposition during his last campaign so he must be respected. EASTBRO CHRISSY (7) settled last of the seven runners, angled out wide on the home turn and produced a big finish when second behind Wild Bull at Stawell on Monday. She is a versatile mare and looms as one of the leading chances. TORQUE POWER (3) dropped back to the markers mid-race and finished off well via the passing lane when fourth at Stawell. He scored nicely at Terang three starts ago and should be working home nicely again. RUBY WINGATE (5) hasn’t been at her best form at her past two attempts but would be highly competitive if she put her best foot forward.

BACK: KEAYANG WASABI (6) – 3 units (win)

 Race 5:

OVERVIEW: JILLIBY ECLIPSE (3) is a first starter for the Margaret and Paddy Lee training combination, which won a trial at Ballarat and dashed home in a slick final quarter of 28.1 seconds so he is likely to give a forward showing. HAVADASH JOH (7) settled midfield and came out three horses wide from the 600m when a handy third at Maryborough. He has struck form at his past two attempts and should be competitive under these conditions. JACOSAS DREAM (5) has had four starts at Mount Gambier and has been racing consistently. He gained a nice trail and worked into a distant second behind the in-form pacer Spook Crocker at his latest appearance so he is not without a chance. ROMAN CHARLIE (1) was placed under similar conditions at Ballarat three starts ago and is drawn to receive every chance so he is worth thought in multiple combinations.

SELECTIONS: IM EDDIE (6), THE PRIESTESS (7), JILLIBY BLISS (4), MUSCLE VALLEY (5) ᅠ

OVERVIEW: IM EDDIE (6) gets into this race with a concession claim and will appreciate a big drop back in class for this assignment. He finished unplaced in the $30,000 Delvin Dancer at Ballarat on Cup night then followed with a strong second behind Kyvalley Judge last week. THE PRIESTESS (7) looms as the logical danger. She won at Maryborough then followed with a big second at Ballarat, where she galloped early, tacked onto the group, raced fiercely and still hit the line strongly. JILLIBY BLISS (4) won comfortably at Wedderburn then followed with a big second in the Parker Classic at Globe Derby, where she made an early error and picked up many lengths. She is a talented filly and should give a bold showing if she delivers a fool proof display. MUSCLE VALLEY (5) is stepping up in class from his Maiden success but he won with plenty in hand and might be able to take the next step forward.
