OVERVIEW: KEAYANG WASABI (6) was resuming since January 2025 when a creditable fourth behind Crusader Miss at Ballarat. He should strip fitter from that run and he competed against very strong opposition during his last campaign so he must be respected. EASTBRO CHRISSY (7) settled last of the seven runners, angled out wide on the home turn and produced a big finish when second behind Wild Bull at Stawell on Monday. She is a versatile mare and looms as one of the leading chances. TORQUE POWER (3) dropped back to the markers mid-race and finished off well via the passing lane when fourth at Stawell. He scored nicely at Terang three starts ago and should be working home nicely again. RUBY WINGATE (5) hasn’t been at her best form at her past two attempts but would be highly competitive if she put her best foot forward.
BACK: KEAYANG WASABI (6) – 3 units (win)
Race 5:
OVERVIEW: JILLIBY ECLIPSE (3) is a first starter for the Margaret and Paddy Lee training combination, which won a trial at Ballarat and dashed home in a slick final quarter of 28.1 seconds so he is likely to give a forward showing. HAVADASH JOH (7) settled midfield and came out three horses wide from the 600m when a handy third at Maryborough. He has struck form at his past two attempts and should be competitive under these conditions. JACOSAS DREAM (5) has had four starts at Mount Gambier and has been racing consistently. He gained a nice trail and worked into a distant second behind the in-form pacer Spook Crocker at his latest appearance so he is not without a chance. ROMAN CHARLIE (1) was placed under similar conditions at Ballarat three starts ago and is drawn to receive every chance so he is worth thought in multiple combinations.
