Part-owner Gary Jarvis is thankful for the incredible ride he had with Rakero Rebel as she prepares for the next phase of her life in the breeding barn.

Connections have sold the star pacing mare to New South Wales-based Success Stud after a wonderful racetrack career that included 16 wins and 23 placings from 59 starts and a tick over $450,000 in prizemoney.

The highlight was the sole Group 1 victory in last year’s Queen Of The Pacific at Melton, when she settled three back along the fence and charged home to pass her rivals in the shadows of the post.

Rakero Rebel was purchased after nine starts in New Zealand and commenced racing in Australia for trainer Jess Tubbs and regular driver Greg Sugars in January of 2023.

She won the Group 3 Robin Dundee Stakes at Menangle in 2024 and this year’s Geelong Pacing Cup in March before closing out her career with a tilt at the Inter Dominion series in Queensland.

She would ultimately compete well across the two rounds of heats before finishing second last to Leap To Fame in last month’s $1million grand final.

“No doubt she’s been the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had horses since I was 17 or 18,” Jarvis said.

“It was a great thrill to have an Inter Dominion runner and she’s going to be sadly missed.

“As you walk into my place, I’ve got everything she’s won. She’s certainly changed my life.”

Larajay Farm posted a farewell to Rakero Rebel on Facebook, which thanked the daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven for an exciting racing journey.

“She’s been a wonderful mare for us, winning the Group 1 Queen of the Pacific amongst multiple other Group and Listed races, amassing close to half a million dollars in stakes and bonuses along the way,” it read.

“She should be a welcome addition to the Australian breeding ranks and we look forward to seeing her progeny hit the track in years to come.”
