Stablemates Honolua Bay and Act Now shortened dramatically in betting markets for the SENTrack Inter Dominion Pacing Championship Grand Final after favourable results at tonight's barrier draw in Albert Park.

The Emma Stewart-trained runners will begin Saturday night’s $500,000 decider at Tabcorp Park Melton from gates two and three respectively.

News of those front row barriers saw the TAB trim Act Now from $5 to $2.25 for the series climax, with Honolua Bay $4.80 into $2.70.

The two horses are among five from Stewart’s all-conquering Cardigan barn in the final, with Beyond Delight (barrier five), Narutac Prince (nine) and Mach Dan (11) also there.

Jodi Quinlan has driven Act Now, last season’s Victoria Derby winner, in 32 of his 35 career starts and hopes to find the top in the early stages of the marathon 2760m trip.

“I’ll be doing my best,” Quinlan said.

“He’ll be coming out of the gate as hard as he can and (we’ll) see where we end up, but it’s not the be all and end all if he doesn’t lead.”

New South Wales trainer Jason Grimson was visibly thrilled after selecting gate one for his charge I Cast No Shadow, while Belinda McCarthy's pair Spirit Of St Louis (four) and Expensive Ego (six) are both off the front line.

Queen Elida is set to start favourite in the SENTrack Inter Dominion Trotting Championship Grand Final after coming up with barrier eight.

The Brent Lilley-trained mare was backed from $2.40 into $1.90 shortly after punters learned that she would begin the $250,000 event from inside the back row and likely behind noted front-runner Mufasa Metro, who will come out of one should emergency Anywhere Hugo not gain a start.

The trotting final was thrown on its head over the weekend when news emerged that New Zealand champion and race favourite Bolt For Brilliance would be scratched due to a pedal bone injury.

Jess Tubbs-trained Just Believe (barrier 12) and Andy Gath’s Majestuoso (six) are the other key hopes according to the market.

Just Believe's regular driver Greg Sugars said his horse was feeling great after three front-running victories through the heats at Ballarat, Shepparton and Geelong.

“He's come through it brilliantly,” Sugars said.

“That's one massive positive we can take out of the heats. He hasn't really had a hard run yet, he's really thrived on the three runs and he's feeling a million dollars.

“He's a versatile horse and he's going to have to be from the draw.”
