One of the showdowns of the season will occur at Charlton on Sunday.
But it won’t be on the track – it will be in the betting ring.
The inaugural Charlton Cup Punters Challenge pits a group of punters against one another, vying for a significant cash prize and the winnings from their bets.
Each punter pays a $1000 buy-in, with $750 to be bet between races four and nine and $250 from each punter to go into a pot – with the punter who has accumulated the most winnings after Race 9 picking up that pot.
The Challenge follows the Charlton club’s successful Punters’ Party concept last season at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Sunday’s Challenge will include professional punters such as the Carroll brothers and Zac Phillips, GoodForm analyst Jason Bonnington playing for charity, Trots Media’s Cody Winnell representing the Charlton Club’s charity of choice and others.
The event will be hosted by Toby McKinnon, featuring interviews between races with the punters live on Trots Vision at thetrots.com.au.
Those watching at home, and on track, will be able to follow each punter's bets and will also be kept up to speed with the live leaderboard.
