There’s always something special about having a win in your home town.
Ballarat-based Yabby Dam Farms takes two leading chances to Bray Raceway on Friday night with the hope of achieving just that.
Trainer Anton Golino has the lightly raced La Perriere in the Jack and Jules Show 3YO Maiden Trot (2200m) and highly-credentialed All Cashed Up engaged in the Decoglaze Trot (2200m) on the nine-race program.
La Perriere, who has had one race start for a third at Yarra Valley on May 6, has some big footsteps to follow as she embarks on her racing career.
She is a half-sister to outstanding trotting mare Im Ready Jet – a four-time Group 1 winner – and full sister to Group 1-placed Imsettogo.
All Cashed Up is having his second start in his latest comeback.
The six-year-old had his first run since June last year when second to the Jess Tubbs-trained One Over All – a winner of his past three starts – at Melton on April 30 and the two again clash in this assignment.
All Cashed Up has had an interrupted career, being off the scene for 18 months from late 2019.
Leading up to that break he finished second in four Group 1s, including losing the Breeders Crown Series three-year-old final on protest after galloping across the line.
A win on the Ballarat and District Trotting Club card would cap off what has been a big week for Yabby Dam Farms principal Pat Driscoll.
His colours have already been carried to a hometown success, although not at Bray Raceway.
Parisian Dancer saluted for the dual-code breeding and racing operation at Ballarat gallops on Wednesday.
And that came while Driscoll was still on a high from having his first Flemington winner on Saturday with No Way Ever.
This came about two years after having his first thoroughbred to the races.
Now he’s hoping it is the turn of his trotters to salute.
