I was quite surprised to see JAMIESON STEELE (10) come up double figures based on his overall form and also his recent trials for David Miles. The beauty of him is that if they are walking up front, he can be put into the race and at $8.50 he is still huge overs compared to the $3 outright favourite I marked him. REGULUS (1) is capable of winning but if you’re desperate to nail the first leg of the Early Quaddie, I’d suggest playing wid.e

Race 2
Confidence:
While I accept this is on spec somewhat, I’m confident if MORGAN MYLEE (1) can find some of her old gate speed that she’s going better than it may first appear on paper and in a race where we don’t need to go overboard, she’s worth an each-way bet at the price. CRACKER JET (8) is the obvious danger for Early Quaddies.
SUGGESTED BET: $10 Each Way on Morgan Mylee (1) at $4 or better.
Race 3
Confidence:
SONNY WEAVER (10) was a long way back first-up but hit the line powerfully and if he can settle a touch closer tonight this is his race. The price again looks generous here so we’re going to start this card ablaze and have another bet. If you’re playing Early Quaddies I’d nearly consider playing this bloke one out.
SUGGESTED BET: $25 Win on Sonny Weaver (10) at $2.50.
Race 4
Confidence:
C K SPUR (6) was terrific first-up and this really doesn’t look much harder. Even if he has to park out he’s far and away the top pick and the price is actually pretty acceptable under the circumstances. CASH LOVER (5) and KYVALLEY CLICHY (8) are the best of the rest and in that order.
SUGGESTED BET: $30 Win on C K Spur (6) at $2.10 + Trifectas

Race 5
Confidence:
I did have RUPERT OF LINCOLN (8) the horse to beat here but I’m growing somewhat concerned that may elect to hand over the front at some stage which makes this a most tricky race to play. I’m leaning towards staying out here and trying to manage our Quaddies through the first leg. That said, I’ll be half filthy if the top pick wins because it may be a missed opportunity.
SUGGESTED BET: Nothing Significant.
Race 6
Confidence:
PLAN CE (1) gets the ideal draw and even if he gets crossed by the favourite ENCHANTED STRIDE (6), I think he’s well placed to be a serious threat via the passing lane. At the price he’s just too far over the odds to ignore.
SUGGESTED BET: $20 Win on Plan Ce (1) at $3.50 or better.
Race 7
Confidence:
LOCHINVAR ART (8) resumes as a deserved deep odds-on favourite here but from a punting front it’s just not a race I’m keen to attack even from a trifectas perspective. I’m happy to sit back and let this one play out and merely observe from a spectators view.

Race 8
Confidence:
This race is very similar to the previous, WOBELEE (5) and MCLOVIN (7) rate just a fraction clear of NEPHEW OF SONOKO (3) so even while the opportunity is there to get stuck into the trifectas based around those thoughts, we’re going to simply hope our Quaddies are still alive and we can enjoy the race that way.

Race 9
Confidence:
SHADOW CHEVRON (11) has his knockers but this is his race and even if he settles well back, he should just crush them with speed late.
SUGGESTED BET: $50 Win on Shadow Chevron (11) at $2 or better.
Early Quaddie
If we are going to snare some value here it’s likely to come early and I’m confident enough to play one out with two better-than-even-money shots in the last two legs.
1,3,4,9,10/ 1,7,8/ 10/ 6 for $30 gets 200%.

The main Quaddie doesn’t get much easier here but similarly to the early version, if we can jag a result early, hopefully we can bring it home safely late.
